Re: Never underestimate the ability of a red-stater to vote against their self-intere
How does Califo-nia rank as a Blue and not a Red?
Califo-nia, similar to Vermont tends to vote independently yet are on separate ends of the list. After all, we have "The O.C.". Vacation land for Barry Goldwater and Richard Nixon. Not sure, but, I believe, alleged Republican Earl Warren was so popular, he was the Democrat nominee for Governor simultaneously. If not Warren, someone else who was so very popular. The Blue organization of Califo-nia is in disarray because the leadership comes from the Bay Area (Jerry Brown, Pelosi, Feinstein) and does not identify with the concerns of the Southern Califo-nia Blues. The best thing that could happen to the Califo-nia Blue organiztion would be to accept a party Chairman from the Los Angeles or San Diego area to present a Blue organization that a resident of Los Angeles, San Diego, Irvine could identify rather then stay home. The Red organization is better centralized on the Conservative Wing. A Red Governor who I thought did very well for the State was, Pete Wilson who for reasons beyond my understanding was really disliked by the Red organization. The Arnold has had problems with the Conservative Wing but, manages them with his charm, and tax breaks for the rich, higher fees for the poor. In conclusion it seems the Blue Organization of Califo-nia is hardly in line with most Califo-nia Blues and can only win an election when the Red Organization of Califo-nia nominates some real idiot, too extreme for the majority, and the Blues get in by default. So is Califo-nia Blue or Red? Neither. It is Red, White and Blue. Re: Never underestimate the ability of a red-stater to vote against their self-intere
California is several states in one,
It is not just north and south, Its the coast between Santa Barbara and Santa Cruz, Its the big valley Its the coastal mountains north of San Francisco Its the Mountains on the eastern edge. Its the deserts of inland southern California, I will give you an example, The Giants loose to the Dodgers 11 to 1. The paper in San Francisco will read, Giants loose a heart breaker to that team in the south. The Giants win 2 to 1, the papers will read Giants Slaped the Dodgers silly last night. The other way around in LA the paper will read Dodgers beat up on the Giants last night 11 to 1, lose the next one 2 to 1. When there is an earthquake, it takes northern California years to get the roads back, in southern California, it takes 90 days. They are two states living apart and together at the same time. I know from which I speak having lived in both areas. Which is why I now live in WISCONSIN. California is the richest state in the Union, it has more wealth then most other states put together, yet it has problems with the books, maybe its because sense it became a state in 1850 there have only been 3 Democrats ever to be governor of the great state. Now you know where the problem is. River
