Re: Do women get upset that their husbands talk of this too much ?

Speaking strictly as a mature (nice way of saying "older") wife of a Eunuch, I find that my husband does speak of this often, but I feel it is just his need for reasurance. I know that deep down inside being a Eunuch bothers him and needs to know that I'm OK with it, so I don't turn him away when he needs to talk.

I can completely empathise with your husband on this, and I think it very supportive of you to indulge him when he needs to talk about it.

I have had a couple of abortive trial runs at chemical castration (cyproterone acetate) and one of the factors I hadn't reckoned on was the feeling that I was isolating myself through castration, in that the vast majority of our friends would simply not understand why I wanted to do it. My wife wanted to be supportive but I think she found it particularly difficult when I was getting unpleasant side effects (hot flushes, lost sleep, depression). I might have stuck with it and tried to get used to the effects, but I would have needed quite a lot of support. Don't get me wrong, she's not unsupportive. I think she was being protective of me. She could see that I was having a difficult time and the obvious way out of it was to quit taking the drug. The moment I mentioned I was thinking of quitting she agreed with me. We've talked about this since and we realise that it's not going to be easy. It would probably be easier for her to hold my hand through the changes if I was physically castrated as there wouldn't be a simple way to turn back. However, we still think it's best to do the chemical trial first. We were discussing it only yesterday: My wife says that first of all I have to conquer my sleep issues (I suffer from allergic rhinitis/neuragia), then she'll be happy for me to try again.
