Re: What would happen if....
Look at it a different way.
What would happen if.........all government regulations were removed and the health insurance companies could be completely free and do whatever they wanted? Just why is it that the concept of a "public option" is even being considered? It is because the insurance companies don't want to insure anyone who has been, is, or might become sick. They only want to insure those who are healthy and unlikely to get sick so that they can maximize profit. Thus they exclude people, deny claims, and cancel insurance coverage. What's really sick is the insurance industry, not medical care. And right now the tax payers are subsidizing the insurance industry and medical care to the tune of untold billions of dollars. How? 1.Hospitals and doctors submit inflated prices on their bills. 2.The insurance companies only "allow" a maximum amount to be paid, based upon contractual agreements. 3.The doctors and hospitals "write off" what the insurance companies won't pay. 4.Those write offs show up on the tax returns of hospitals and doctors as uncollectable billings, which in turn reduces their taxable income. 5.Result is less tax revenue paid to the governments. 6.Result is working tax payers, who get little to no write offs, pay for it via income and small business taxes. And it is no different elsewhere in the non-medical corporate America. Corporations via their greed is killing The United States of America. Unenforced, or unenforceable regulations are not helping to prevent this mass murder. As quickly as laws are passed the evil virus of corporate greed changes its tactics and attacks in a different way. Not all industries or corporations are to blame. But there is enough blame to go around, in corporations large and small, that there is significant risk in total collapse of our entire economic stability. And our Senators and Representatives are in bed with this and are not part of the solution, they are part of the problem. Rome, it was thought, was too big to fail or fall. No civilization, society, people, government, corporation is too powerful or big to fail. All evidence indicates the US is digging itself further into a hole, not digging itself out of one. If corporations get their way, health care changes, no matter what they are, will NOT be in YOUR best interest. The public option debate is almost a smokescreen to mask what is really going on with the meat and potatoes of health care insurance changes. But health insurance is a mere tip of the ice berg. All governments from cities, counties, states, and federal are broke, running negative, going into debt. If you were to equate today with the pre-1930 depression, and what corporations were doing in the pre-depression era, our economy is teetering on the brink, with more reasons to collapse than revive. The recession of the past 2 years may just be a preamble of things to come; hopefully not or we will be in a real world of hurt.......for a generation or more. Health insurance, health care will be non-existent for most when the sweater really starts to unravel.
