New Survey

Urgent!!! The Eunuch Archive needs your help! Go here to read more.

Study of Factors Influencing Castration Ideation and the Consequences of Emasculation on the Eunuch.org Members

We invite you to participate in a survey of the Eunuch Archive (www.eunuch.org) community. The survey is for eunuchs, wannabes, and others who may have interests in castration.

This survey follows on a previous survey posted on the Eunuch Archive in 2005. The results of that study have been published in a series of four papers and we would be happy to send copies of any of those papers to anyone who requests them.

The previous study constituted the only research done to date to characterize the modern day eunuch community in the western world. However, it also revealed major holes in our knowledge. We are particularly interested in learning more about the social and sexual background of people interested in castration. Thus, many of the questions in this new survey are quite personal, but they can help us better define the community.

This questionnaire will take approximately 30-45 minutes to complete, but one need not do that all in one sitting.

The questionnaire has the full approval of the board that oversees eunuch.org. The two researchers, Drs. Richard Wassersug and Thomas Johnson, are members of the Eunuch Archive Board. Tom Johnson is a retired professor of Anthropology from California State University, Chico. Dr. Richard Wassersug is a professor of Anatomy & Neurobiology at Dalhousie University, in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He is also “out” as a medical eunuch because of his treatments for prostate cancer and has published several personal essays on that topic.

Because of the personal nature of the questions we are asking, it is very important that members of the community understand their answers will be completely confidential. At no time will we ask for your name or email address. Your confidentiality will be completely protected and nothing you say or write will be traceable to you individually. This survey has been reviewed by the Dalhousie Health Sciences Research Ethics Board in advance of posting on the surveymonkey website. Before starting the questionnaire, you will be asked to read about this project and give your consent to participate in the study.

We greatly appreciate your help in this study.

It's almost here!

Yes folks, it's almost that time again. In just a few short weeks, the EA will be having its annual Midwest MOM (Meeting of Members). This year, it's being held August 8-9, at our fabulous super-secret world headquarters.

As usual there will be a wonderful assortment of people, many of whom have received special passes from their institutions just to attend! (The others have likely escaped without permission, so shhhh...)

For more information, just click here.

In other news, there is currently no other news. Should that change, this will of course be updated. Eventually. Maybe.

Remembering Christina

I am sad to report that on Thursday, May 1, Christina passed away. She was a good friend to many of us here at the EA, as well as being the head of the chatroom here. She will be sorely missed.

There is a thread on the message boards, here, for all members to get together and remember our beloved Christina. We welcome anyone who wishes to share their memories of her with us.

Personals.

Ok, ok, this really should have been said about two weeks ago...

The PERSONALS are now up and running!

So far, the response has been amazing. As of right now, we have just under 500 members, and it's growing daily. I'd definitely call that a hit, and I'm glad people seem to be enjoying it. Sign up today!

On another note, the server upgrade has not yet been completed. I do not know when this will happen, so please be aware that it should be happening sometime in the near future.

Shhh.... don't tell anyone.

Well, things are definitely progressing as planned, and soon there will be a new easter egg for everyone. Here's hoping the server can handle the load, and you users are liking it.

Not gonna say what I'm talking about, I'm sure all will become clear in time.

In the meantime, we may have a line on the extra memory needed to help the server in its operations, however the installing of the ram, and the associated software upgrades that have to be done may mean that at some point the server will have to be taken offline for a day or two. Don't worry, we'll give you lots of notice before that happens.

Good luck, and good day.

Almost.... almost...

It's almost ready.

I'm currently looking for a handful of people to help beta test the new personals section. If you'd like to volunteer, please send me an email at ie@eunuch.org to let me know. If things go well, and I get enough volunteers to test things out, then the personals section will open mid-February at the latest. Depending upon the response, it could very well open MUCH sooner.

There are other changes that will be occuring over the next little while, as time and resources permit. For now I think I'll keep them under wraps, but I'm hoping you'll like them.

The downside is, we are currently nearing the limits of what our current server can provide. Specifically, the server could definitely do with more memory. As a result, during peak times response may be a little slow, and errors may occasionally occur. If this happens, please just hit reload and have some patience. We are working on this issue as best as we can for now.

As mentioned before, the EA does have a fully-functional BLOGGING system for any users who wish to use it, soon we'll have the personals back, and who knows what's next? Stay tuned.

Testing in progress.

I'm not making any promises.

There is going to be some testing taking place behind the scenes with some new software for the next couple weeks at least. As a result, the EA may experience some strange or unusual behaviour, up to and including the possibility of the server being offline for limited periods.

If things go according to plan, however, there may be something special arriving at the EA as an early Christmas present for all of you. This is in addition to the new BLOG feature that was added just a short time ago. If you haven't seen the new BLOGS, please take a moment to go have a look.

Even when I'm on the road, I'm working. Wish me luck.

Back up!

Ok, the message boards are back up, and they seem to be working correctly.

There may be some small glitches, but those are being worked upon. Here's hoping there are no major ones lurking.

I would also like to take this time to announce that the EA has a major new feature, but you're gonna have to go into the message boards to find out what it is.

The message board is officially closed for up to one hour.

There is one small , and one large upgrade to be done, and this will hopefully take less than 15 minutes, but you never can tell with these things.

The board will reopen as soon as possible.
