Thread: One Day in the Life of a Wolf

Re: One Day in the Life of a Wolf

This is obviously a stressful time for Wolfie, but I think it might be for the best. It is always good to do a good spring cleaning! And I suspect the mouse problem is more than one or two ...

Wolfie the thing you do have to ask yourself though is: for how much longer are you the best caregiver for your mother? ... I know it is a very, very tough decision, but you are getting older yourself and don't have a lot of monetary means. It is also a huge burden (despite your love for her). You deserve to have some freedom in your life too. It sounds to me like you have already given her years of care, and there is no shame in having to seek external help.

    Macwolf,

I would send you Rupert but he dosent like to fly/travil. Yesterday he was so happy when he came in and showed me this (what looked to be a small quail) in his jaws. He then tried to get a better grip, lost the bird which left through the open window at a high rate of speed with Rupert hot on its tail. The only thing we got to save from it was a feather, which of course his daddy will keep, his daddy likes keeping things in little jars.

Call the local Pet-impound and ask for the most perfect Mouse-catching Cat they have and Borrow it for a week or two. I am sure they know which Cat they have is a good "Mouser".

But have that room ready for You Mother - NOW - and dont' hesitate. She wont mind if You go get her home without "EXPLANATIONS" to anyone.

Their REPORTS on what AILS her etc etc You can retrieve later if You really need it.

Mac, go look at this critter repellent looks like it might be the ticket laddie. I wonder if it works on ex-wives?

I can just see it now, Neiborhood up in arms from mice invasion, caused believed to be from one guy driving off the mice in his house. Investigation pending.

My own life feels on the verge of disaster. Your situation either intensifies my fear or calms it. I am not certain which applies.

She frantically called 911 saying, "my son is missing, my dog is missing, and I'm all alone and scared." When I arrived home, the police were awaiting me. They chewed me out because my house was cluttered, messy and overrun by mice. Office on aging showed up ten minutes later followed by Adult Protective Services.

I was given a choice: allow them to take mom to a hospital for 10 days to two weeks or go to jail for charges of "elder abuse." I accepted the former and they took mom away. Cops and A.P.S. said mom could return when house is both uncluttered and mouse free.

Uncluttering and general house cleaning is the easy part. I plan to spend one day cleaning each room. Mice wise, I'll need to have the house tented and fumigated. During fumigation, dogs can stay in back yard but cat and I need to find a cheap motel for 24 hours.

Today I cleaned her room and discovered all her blood pressure meds, nerve meds and sleeping pills were missing. I panicked. When I visited mom at psych ward tonight, head nurse reassured me they had all of mom's meds. Would have been nice if they had told me as they were taking mom's meds from the house.

Anyone know how much they'll charge to tent a house?

    DOUBLE WHAMMY

Today I was hit with two slighty different problems:

    1. I went to see mom at hospital to get her to sign the Power of Attorney so I could get the babk loan to get the house tented. Mom was in a foul mood saying, since I won't take her home to the mice, she won't sign it, and since she is forbidden to come home with mice here = Catch 22.

    2. Hospital informed me mom will be released in next few days, likely to a homeless shelter. Somehow, I can't understand how a homless shelter is safer than mice here. *sigh*

Have you tried a local legal aid society? If you get a lawyer involved, the city might back down. I agree that it makes no sense, but that doesn't surprise me. Little the bureaucrats do makes sense.

So - can You tell me - or us - who is in charge of this release - where is the "hospital" or is it a "jail" where Your mother is - and phone numbers etc. To get some pull we must work with specifics. and maybe "not" keeping it "secret" will the world be able to take a closer look. I myself keeps no secrets .. So let it all hand out, and maybe the culprits will start to worry ??? JSm N3RF

Isn't California just WONDERFUL? I mean, the tolerance and all?

If she gets to the homeless shelter she won't be there a week and you will get her to come home.

Theoritically, Adult Protective Services decides where she goes next. It was they who removed her from her home.
