    Re: Palestine

In a secret deal the UN needs to draw a line and say your on one side and they are on the other, nobody will be happy but it would be done, then tell both parties to live with it.

    Cool Re: Palestine

Fine, as long as anyone may purchase a
parcel of property on either side of the line.

    Cool Re: Palestine

From those wonderful people of Gaza, a murder of some 14
    Egyptian border crossing personnel.
The new Egyptian Prez, the Islamist, has sent in attack helicopters.
No report on their collateral damage on non combatants.

Palestine is NOT a nation nor a state.
It may be, someday. It should first demonstrate
it can manage internal affairs like a State in a Federal system
before being recognized as legitimate amongst the Earth's nations.
I'd prefer the Jordanians or the Turks manage it to maturity.

    Re: Palestine

Why Moi, Israel did not have that when the united nations created their country.

Moi, it would seam that both sides after 60 years can not come to an agreement, maybe its time for the united nations to draw a line and say this is the way it is. Nobody will be happy with it and that usually means its fair. They don't need a big brother, they don't need to be a satellite state, Palestine needs to be its own country and govern its own affairs.

    Cool Re: Palestine

I have no trouble with your line,
As long as Jewish persons, Christian persons, and Muslim persons
may purchase and own property on either side of the line.

In the late 1940's there was a Jewish organization(s) negotiating for the Israeli nation.
It didn't take them long to have proper elections. It helps to be descendents of Abraham's legitimate son.

I certainly wish Palestine could demonstrate government control over all international activities
from their turf. invaded Taliban Afghanistan for their failure to be responsible for who was hiding
    in their caves.

I'd say they should seek full membership.
A non member state would legitimately be able display their own flag, have their own seat and voice, call themselves a nation and have equal say in the general UN assembly, however they would not be able to vote in the or hold any positions on their councils. The Palestininians have had already been given a mandate for nationhood in the 1940s with an original boundary set, however their lands were divied up between Jordan and Israel over the course of several wars. Jordan later relinquished their claims on Palestinian territories.

PS: And although there are those that will disagree and not even bother to listen and even become indignant it is true, the Palestinians are descendents of the Samarians (Samaritans) and therefore are also descendents of the twelve tribes of Israel.

In these days of "da Genome".
Palestinians and Jewish people share lots of genome, as descendents from Abraham.
Jewish people continue to share little genome with the population that surrounds them.
It took the late 20th Century to get Jewish people into outbreeding.
Look how much Hollywood is Half Jewish.
I figure the Palestinians are those Hebrews who left Judaism.
    Maybe ?

    BTW
Ishmael was before "The 12 Tribes". It was all one big happy tribe.

I have an old broken down truck out behind the barn. It hasn't moved an inch, not one inch, in more than 60 years. Now if you came running in and said, "Hey that there truck is all broke down. Aren't ya goin' go a fix it?" I'd just say, "Fer what? It's broke. Don't ya get it?"

For years the Palestinians were near and dear to my heart. I took their suffering personally. But now I just don't care. As far as I'm concerned they are just like that old broken down truck behind the barn. Why should I care?

    Gee Whiz, MOI,
Do you not understand that most of that offends people?

    Re: Palestine

The son of Isaac, which was Jacob became renamed "Israel" by God. Jacob, that is Israel had twelve sons, which later formed the twelve tribes of Israel with a couple of exceptions. Later they became a nation which divided into two. The northern country was absorbed (often translated as "lost" in old English) by an empire to the northwest. These were the Samarians from the old country of Samaria which had had descended from ten of the tribes of Israel. Later the country of Judah was consumed also. After some time and changes of empire over the land of Canaan the Judeans led a revolt against Rome which led to their expulsion. The Samarians however remained behind where their descendents remain to this very day and dna evidence is coming to support this.

    Cool Re: Palestine

    What was offensive?
Someone being a little too "liberal". Hhmmm?

There is NO Palestinian people. They are Jordanians.
    Not Egyptian, not Syrian.
And as part of the Jordanian nation they knew their best times.

Tell that or try to convince that to a Palestinian.

I think Moi is confused, matter of fact I am sure of it.
