On June 20, 1931, President Herbert Hoover, a Republican, took an action that benefitted Western Europe, but was devastating, economically to America. He called for a one year moratorium on the war debts owed by several nations in Europe to the United States. He did this at a time when America really needed the money. Most Americans were outraged by his actions. In the end, only one nation in Europe paid its entire war debt back to the United States, Finland.

InPuppet Masters, Heinlein's most rabid and paranoid right wing novel, (and one of his better) he posits an invasion by mind parasites that takes over our minds and makes puppets of us humans, who then work to spread the infection. From all the evidence, I am beginning to suspect that cats are launching such an invasion of us humans. Look at the evidence. Suddenly cute, endearing cat pictures are popping up on my Facebook news page by some application I have no memory of ever signing up for. I suspect the whole Youtube thing would collapse into bankruptcy were it not for all the cute cat videos people are mindlessly watching when they should be working.
