I read somewhere that he pissed on the live rail of an electric railway. However the mythbusters were happy to prove that human piss was non conductive. In the short distance the pee travels enough gaps in the stream occur to stop current flow.

Mind you this picture is rather graphic and says other things to me.

The Third rail is DC, and it is dangerous but the same voltage in AC is an order of magnitude more dangerous. As AC does not need a good ground and the arc will burn of penis and fingers off, if you survive the experience. This statement is only true for High voltage Direct Current, not High Voltage Alternating Current (4,000 volts and up): "In the short distance the pee travels enough gaps in the stream occur to stop current flow."

There have been a few linemen which have had their penis burned off by the High Voltage AC arcing to their penis.

Agreed! I doubt that you could convince any farm boy (or city boy who's been suckered by a farm boy) who has pissed on an electric fence and then picked himself up off the ground that pee does not conduct.

You got THAT right! We used to trick guys who'd never encountered an electric fence to all hold hands in a line while either my brother or I would pee on the fence; by creating a continuous circuit with the flesh-to-flesh contact, the pee-er felt nothing more than a tingle while the poor guy at the end got knocked on his ass!

Urine, non-conductive? Nonsense! It is mostly water, but the major additive is salt; that is an ionic solution and that is how you make water conductive by adding ions to it. The traces of albumin, sugar, and urea wouldn't affect it much.

I can attest that peeing on an electric fence will jolt you. I did it when I was about 4 years old. I had to pee and my older brothers told me to go up by the fence and pee. It didn't knock my down, but I sure peed a lot. Couldn't stop it seemed like
to me. I did cry.

I agree with mythbusters. I tried peeing on our electric fence more then once and never felt a thing. Our fencer is 36 joules, which till recently it was the strongest fencer you could buy. Most fencers are only .5 to 3 joules and pretty weak. Getting shocked peeing on a fence is just an urban legend.

Otherwise, you are like a birdie sitting on a high voltage electrical line. You cannot get electrocuted unless you are grounded and your body completes a circuit. AC or DC, it does not matter... either will electrocute you. It is a matter of how you are grounded, i.e., how your body completes the circuit...

What I remember from Mythbusters is that Adam urinated on an electric fence when he was connected to an EKG. Adam said that he felt a jolt and the paramedic said that he saw a spike on the EKG.
