Today in the NEWS June 15, 2012

The president opened the way for kids who were brought here by their parents to not be departed.

He is trying to rap up the Spanish vote, and doing a good job of it.

Egypt is ready to vote for more of the same or a Muslim Brotherhood leader.

Greece is voting Sunday on to keep the Euro or go back to the Drachma. This could have a wide spread effect on world economy.

Stock market closed up for the day and week.

    Go figure.

Good for the President, Look for Egypt to go with the Muslim Brotherhood and the second revolution will start one way or the other. Greece will vote to leave the euro, and they will survive, and all of it has nothing to do with our economy.

    What do you think?

Re: Today in the NEWS June 15, 2012

In response to .... The President trying to pander to the hispanic vote, I think our immigration policies and methods are F***ED UP! TOTALLY F***ED UP! And almost ANY CHANGE WOULD BE AN IMPROVEMENT, it is just the motivation for the change that has me pissed off. As I have already said, our immigration policies are .....bad, and they have needed to be changed for a long long time, any IDIOT can see how unfair and just wrong the whole system is, and it has been wrong for at least the past 30 years, probably longer. The change President Obama wants, i.e. open up a temporary legal status for persons brought into the U.S. as children, seems a good change, an improvement, yes this makes sense.... BUT IT MADE SENSE THIRTY YEARS AGO, it was clearly a good idea when President Obama was first sworn in, yet... this good idea had to wait three and a half years... it is CLEARLY a politician trying to get the hispanic vote in the upcomming election. I would probably be a lot more pissed off about this, but when I remember the really stupid antics of President Obama's predicessor, and what that IDIOT would do to try to get the hispanic vote... well, at least George Bush (part two) did one good thing: he made his successor look really really REALLY good.

Next point I wish to offer my enlightened opinion on: EGYPT et al, and this whole "Arab Spring" thing with various "evil" middle-east regimes toppling. NOBODY EVER SEEMS TO THINK THESE THINGS THROUGH, seriously, has anyone given any REAL thought to the simple fact that what replaces the "evil" regime of today could and quite probably WILL BE MUCH WORSE? The "evil" Shah of Iran was "toppled" by a "popular uprising" (which was secretly funded and supported by the French), and the "good" Ayatollah's took over Iran and brought the country back into the 14th century. Now, the world watches and cheers for the "popular uprisings" in Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Syria, Bahrain, etc etc etc. AND NOBODY GIVES ANY THOUGHT to the very obvious fact that the ensuing regimes will PROBABLY be much much worse. Every day we hear more and more about the "atrocities" of the Syrian regime under Bashar Al Asad, yes, he's a really bad guy! Tell us more! Tell us more! But I really dread what the next Syrian regime is going to be like, and I am not at all optimistic about Egypt and all the other "Arab Spring" countries.

As for Greece, that most beautiful and wonderful country, they never should have joined the "Euro-zone" in the first place. If they leave the Euro, then things will be tough for a few years but they will become better with every passing year, if they stay with the Euro.... things will always be bad and get worse with every passing year.

Why didn't he do this three years ago.
A shameless act of pandering in an election year.
Did he suddenly discover his Presidency

    Moi
I will NOT vote for Obama again.

I will NOT vote for Obama again.
He did do this in 2010 and it was called THE DREAM ACT.
It was voted down because it couldn't reach the 60 vote filibuster wall...
The Republicans in the SEnate won't let the DREAM ACT on the floor of the Senate and the House of Reps hasn't even schedule the bill (they are too busy destroying abortion and women's rights) (and passing anti GAY marriage laws)...

Moi, you seem to forget that the president does not make laws, he signs bills passed by both houses into law. Dave is right, he cant do it all by his self, in case you have not notice congress is not working, also this is another problem that he inherited Bush had 6 years with a rubber stamp congress and did NOTHING, but you blame Obama, this has been a problem for as long as I can remember, and nobody in congress either side of the isle wants any part of it, ever.

So is the president guilty of playing a trump card in an election year, YOU BET, is it going to work YOU BET, is he wrong in what he did, HELL NO. what more do you need to understand?

He beat the republicans to the punch, no matter what they do now they are running in second place on this issue. He beat them to the punch, GO OBAMA.

And yes, let me make the perfectly clear (in the word of a past president) was it political, HELL YES.

The democrats never had a 60 majority of the senate, they came close, 58 with one out with a terminal illness.

Remember to get a bill passed through congress both houses must agree on a single bill. This is why the health bill put up by and passed by the senate was taken to the house without changes. Any change would have gone back to the senate where it would have died.

He did an Executive action he could have done three years ago.
    Eh?

    Election year pandering.
Even a saint may succumb. C'mon all. Call it as it is.
Don't blame Congress for a failure of an Executive action delayed three years.

Moi, the real point is the last three presidents had the same option and did nothing some of witch had full support of both houses of congress.

    AND

like I said above, it makes great political theater, after all it is an ELECTION YEAR.

Moi, there is a time and a place for everything, now I ask you would the president get as much millage out of this had he done it 3 years ago? No of course not, this was the right time and place to do this, it gets him the biggest bang for the buck.

Remember only in the second term of office can a president really do what he wants and make a difference because he will never run for office again.

    That's peculiar.

I don't remember you commenting about George W. Bush and he did a LOT more than Obama ever did via Presidential order.

Don't take it personally. I once criticized a rather stupid action of the left, and despite being a flaming liberal myself, was immediately labeled a fascist, tea-party racist. Its a reflex thing. I don't think they have any control.

    >>I repeated River's original with my own EMPHASIS...
    >>Much has been made of the issuance of an order from the Secretary of Homeland Security (not the President's office) concerning the power of the president.
    >>Most of it simply arguing against the power that a president (any president) holds under the constitution.
    >>Some of those words by a very hypocritical Mitt Romney. Why do I say Hypocritical?

    Mitt Romney's words:
    http://crooksandliars.com/nicole-bel...wer-act-unilat
I can assure you if I’m president, the Iranians will have no question but that I will be willing to take military action if necessary to prevent them from becoming a nuclear threat to the world. I don't believe at this stage, therefore, if I'm president that we need to have a war powers approval or special authorization for military force. The President has that capacity now. I understand that some in the Senate for instance have written letters to the President indicating you should know that a containment strategy is unacceptable.

    >>That was in this mornings interview with Bob Schieffer...
    >>He complains that the president is acting high handed in having issued the order (which as chief enforcer of the law is part of prosecutorial preference) and then a few minutes later, Romney says the president has the power to go to war and threatens Iran if he wins the presidential election.
    >>
    >>Obviously, Romney is having a case of "It's not his power but I'll take that power and keep it for myself."
    >>Every president has done this same thing and they all should be called on it...
    >>
