The etch-a-sketch remark was made by a minor campaign worker. Holding Romney accountable for that comment is similar to giving total validity to Arizona Sheriff Arpaio. All politicians (including Obama) use different examples to appeal to different groups.

    Cool Re: Polls

What is so very terrible about changing one's mind.
I'd rather have a leader who is biological and not geological.
    Times change.
Romney boxed himself in a corner on illegal immigration.
Like who is tougher on Communist.
I do hope before the election we have the re evaluation by Romney regarding the illegals,
like NIXON's trip to China. Maybe an angelic visitor or a day in the fields with Stephan Colbert.

    Not a "minor" campaign official.
    http://articles.cnn.com/2012-03-21/p..._s=PM:POLITICS

Eric Fehrnstrom, Romney's senior campaign adviser, was asked in a CNN interview Wednesday morning whether the former Massachusetts governor had been forced to adopt conservative positions in the rugged race that could hurt his standing with moderates in November's general election.

"I think you hit a reset button for the fall campaign. Everything changes," Fehrnstrom responded. "It's almost like an Etch A Sketch. You can kind of shake it up, and we start all over again."

Rival candidates Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich, who are vying for conservative support against the more moderate Romney, seized on the comment as indicative of their longstanding criticism that Romney shifts his positions on issues such as health care reform and abortion to suit his political needs.

Gingrich brought out an Etch A Sketch at a campaign appearance in Louisiana, where the next primary takes place Saturday.

"You have to stand for something that lasts longer than this," Gingrich said at the Lake Charles event, holding the drawing toy invented in 1959.

"You could not have found a more perfect illustration of why people distrust Romney than to have his (adviser) say that the Etch A Sketch allows you to erase everything in the general election," Gingrich added. "You have to read the guy's quote to realize -- if he had set out to highlight for everybody why we distrust Romney, I think he couldn't have done a better job."
“They also call it the Winged Isle. Some say it is because the island, if seen from above, would look like butterfly wings. And I do not know the truth of it.” Then, “ ‘And what is truth?’ said jesting Pilate.” From: The Truth Is A Cave In The Black Mountains by Neil Gaiman.

    What a

"So What" issue. Smoke screen to real issues.

What someone did when they were 18 years old.
    NOT relevant.

Maybe Romney should be viewed as adaptable, like NIXON.
A, "So What" issue blew his daddy out of presidential contention.
A Generals' tour of Viet Nam. Coming back feeling good about the war effort then realizing the
Generals did a brain washing. The issue became "brain washing" and never lying Generals and Viet Nam policy.

Obama's promise to cut the debt substantially in his 2008 campaign is not a "So What" issue.
Maybe I should accept Obama changed his mind. Biological and not Geological.

Etch A Sketch Highlights Missed Opportunities for Romney’s Rivals

By NATE SILVER I’m sympathetic to the notion that the news media’s coverage of the Etch A Sketch comments made by one of Mr. Romney’s top aides has been excessive. At the same time, the comments made by the adviser, Eric Fehrnstrom, will serve to remind voters of a major issue in the campaign: that Mr. Romney has substantially altered his positions on a wide range of issues since he ran for governor in Massachusetts in 2002.

    not minor, major.

This is not about some two bit sheriff in Arizona, this is about the office of President.

    Did you somehow miss this?

And yes we can hold him accountable for his comments, as you republicans have made it a point to hold Obama accountable for Biden's comments.

Mac, what is good for the goose is also good for the gander and in politics the gloves are off, anything and everything goes, its going to be a bloody fight before its over and I sure hope you like the super packs that you thought were so fine 4 years ago.

With that in mind now we need to re-visit the etch-a-sketch thing.

The mantra of the crazy bastards if 'carried' into the fall election by Romney will ensure his defeat. IF Romney is YOUR candidate OR if he even resembles YOUR candidate you need to give the man some credit.

...er, call it "borrow and spend..."

After all, your alternative is to vote for OBAMA...

    AH, wait a minute...

NEVERMIND, Romney IS a flip-flopper. Maybe he is REALLY WORSE than Obama, do ya think?

See? I knew that you could NOT think or you would have been for Obama in the FIRST PLACE....

    I know, I know...

I just wish that the Republicans would get their RepubliCANS handed to them on a platter so that they could 'cook up' another strategy that didn't STINK so badly...

IT is NOT about how much YOU pay.

It is NOT about how much you make.

    IT IS ALL ABOUT FAIRNESS.

It is all about the mindsets of the Eduardo Severins in American society.

It is about believing FALSE mantras and chanting like a mindless zombie and if you REALLY want to continue to call patriotism and sacrificing for the good of your country and for the good of your fellow man socialism or even communism.

It is about NOT doing unto others what you would NOT want them to do unto you.

Do you get it curious1111? Are we connecting?

    Look Re: Polls

Time to look at the issues and the Polls again...

Washington (CNN) -- Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is a multimillionaire who wanted elevators for his luxury cars and whose wife wears $1,000 designer T-shirts.

Barack Obama, even before being elected president, was an academic intellectual who made millions writing books and then became a professorial media darling who hobnobbed with Hollywood celebrities and Wall Street investment bankers.

Yet each candidate accuses the other of being out of touch, unable to connect with everyday people. Just look at their gaffes last week over the ailing economy.

The president has a 56% favorability rating, compared with Romney at 48%, according to a recent CNN/ORC International poll.

Political experts said that in this era of celebrity worship and obsession with reality television stars, the ability to connect on some sort of personal level with everyday voters takes on heightened importance.
    QUOTE BELOW...
"Part of it is that there seems to be such gridlock (voters are) skeptical that (politicians) are going to do anything so they look at the 'who can I have a beer with?' factor," Zelizer said.
