    loss of feeling after orchi

hi all. i had an orchiectomy about 2 months ago and i have a numb spot on the under side of my penis and part of my scrotem. im wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar. and if the feeling came back. im wondering if this is normal or if the surgeon somehow fucked up and hit a nerve he wasnt supposed to and now im screwed for future srs

Sometimes nerves are not where they usually are, and a surgeon has no way to determine this. Because of individual variations in nerve location, a surgical procedure that does not cut a useful nerve in most patients may cut one in a few patients. That is in the nature of surgery.

Back in 1986, I decided that doctors who did vasectomies were the most likely to do my orchiectomy without complications, and, after talking with quite a few doctors, found one who was willing to do the orchciectomy, provided that I never identified said doctor.

I had no problems with post-orchiectomy pain, swelling, and no noticable loss of penile or scrotal sensitivity.

In my view, the loss of sensitivity you described is not the result of poor surgical technique, it is the result of variations in nerve locations. Some of the time, such loss of sensitivity goes away on its own, sometimes it does not go away.

I hope that those numb areas recover their sensitivity, as I sense that such is what you much prefer.

I had a fairly major surgery on my foreskin where a number of body mod implants I had were removed. The operation totally desleeved (that was the technical term for it!) and also cut around the base. Afterwards the entire foreskin on the entire shaft was totally numb. I was pretty mad and thought about filing malpractice because I thought that if a doctor knew that severing all the nerves on both ends would lead to numbness I should have been told (especially since it was just a cosmetic and not necessary procedure). Anyway, he assured me the feeling would grow back. Sure enough it did! It took a long time. It went from TOTALLY numb (couldn't even feel pin pricks, temperature, anything) to fully functional again.

So I would give it a couple months.

I would say it took a couple months. I had to heal for a couple weeks and so didn't even really try anything until the stitches and bandages came off, then I noticed the problem, worried about it for quite a while, finally scheduled a doctor's visit about it, he told me to wait more, and then after some further time it was okay!! So pretty long, but short enough that looking back it wasn't a big deal.

you cut a motor control nerve it never will heal, you cut a sensory nerve, feeling will return 1/8" a month, so this is what the Dr told me when I cut my finger badly.
