    smokes Deepest, Darkest Thoughts

    Deepest Darkest Thoughts.

Lately mine have been around death arrangements. Dealing with my friends untimely death about 2 months ago and his estate is without a will or trust. A Thai wife telephones in from Thailand and his blood family is trying to pick up the pieces.

Well I got my Moi Trust set up. Almost. My separated insane wife and surviving best buddy or his nieces stand to benefit as long as my pets are cared for. Not perpetual care hotel but, one of the nieces adopts them. My best buddy gets pull the plug authorization too. No organs or pieces.

What about the lifeless corpus? When the ashes of my untimely death friend were delivered I asked the guy about my preference. Still no reply. Waiting.
I explained I was never comfortable with burial and cremation seems so Hitler. I want a burial befitting the ancients. Clean me up. Wrap me in linen. Allow me to decay in a dry & protected place, come back when I am just bones, place in ossuary box, place my box in an aisle because I have long legs. I am use to aisles seating.

Any ideas about final disposition or other Deepest, Darkest Thoughts?

I interviewed a funeral director here for a story. I touched on pre-planning. From his point of view, it was a bad idea. The point of a funeral is for the friends/family of the deceased. Them being in the position of having to make decisions is helpful in the process of grieving and acceptance. That is what he has seen dealing with us humans for decades and I think he has a point.

Let the next of kin decide the details, but do give your worldly worth to a good cause.

As long as you aren't shipping the body out of California, there is no need for embalming, so you can specify no embalming and be buried, but you will need a plot and that is where a lot of the current expense comes in. If I recall correctly, orthodox Judaism prohibits cremation. Personally, I prefer the Zoroastrian custom of leaving the body to the vultures whom Ahura Mazda has wisely provided for that purpose rather than poluting the earth by burial, the waters by dumping (as the Hindus do in the Ganges), or the air by cremation, but I don't think I'll get my wish.

Are you kidding me? Death is the biggest racket of all. Personally I could care less what happens to me when I die. I told my wife and kids to think cheap, like "Neptune Society" cheap. Basic body disposal. I can't see any point in trying to preserve a dead body, six feet under ground or otherwise. Equally pointless is buying a plot of land to use while I am dead. Are you kidding me? You want me to pay rent after I am dead? No, not me. Once I am dead getting rid of my body is going to be someone elses problem. I have no sentiment about it whatsoever. I might even give my body to science so doctors can practice on my cadaver body. That will at least benefit someone.

    I am with you,

Get rid of the body in the cheapest possible manner, cremation would be the preferred method. NO funeral, they are barbaric at best.

Take my ashes and spread them on the side of a hill/mountain overlooking a lake or river. I have a place in mind,

Sell my possessions other then keepsakes then take the money and have a party.

If you wish loved ones to benefit, fend off the Revenuers.
    Set up a trust.
Just like a will but, legal games to the end.

Y'know what a crying shame is?
An airplane full of lawyers crashing with no survivors and it had two empty seats!

I use to be in the discard my body as you like camp. But, that leaves duties to those left behind.
I still want my Old Style Biblical internment, let the vultures starve, and collect the dry bones later.

i have a living trust for what i want to keep control of and we just set up a irrevocable trust into which i will gift the rest after i see what happens at the end of the year.
i have it set up so the feds get nothing and my children dont have to file for the estate after i am gone as Oregons filing threshold is 1 million dollars and the feds will return to 1 million as well after December 31st

I am circulating a petition to do away with the death tax in Oregon to go on the November ballot with the help of the states farmers

my will states i will be cremated and my ashes buried under the tree at the top of the hill overlooking the farm where i can watch the crops grow forever

What do I care? I'll be dead. Put my body in a paper bag set on a bus going to the edge of town. --FLO--

I have heard that you bury Texans by castrating them, giving them an enema and putting what is left in a shoe box. You are a big guy. To fit your body into a paper bag, I assume some variant of that applies to Minnesotans. Which might explain why the MOM is held in Minneapolis.

I was going to post something else but the Saturday event is in Wisconsin about 20 miles outside of the twin cities.

Ignore the windy one. I am a Minnesotan although I was born in Florida and spent a lot of my childhood at the family home area, an island in Lake Superior. --FLO--

    Re: Deepest, Darkest Thoughts

Pardon my Wisconsonian. I am a Wisconsinite. People who do not speak Wisconsonian are plausibly Wisconsonites, Wisconsonites do not live in Wisconsin. Wisconsinites live in Wisconsin.

If you are not a Wisconsinite, you may not know proper Wisconsonian language spelling.

There are transplants living in Wisconsin who are not fluent in Wisconsonian. How to tell Wisconsonites from Wisconsinites? Ask how genuine Wisconsinites spell the word?

Yes, when I graduated from high school, I was a temporary Minnesotan.

What qualifies me to speak Minnesotan? My mother's childhood was mostly in a home where the main language used was Svenskt.

In Minnesota, the genuine people are Minnesotans and their genuine language is Minnesotan.

In Wisconsin, the genuine people are Wisconsinites and their genuine language is Wisconsonian.

It is good to respect people's names for themselves and for their language.

    Are they buried differently?

Darker and Deeper? Whose lutefisk is better?
Actually I liked my 2 years in Milwaukee but, I never considered Milwaukee
part of the heart of Wisconsin. The Winters are 20F warmer then Madison.
    Good lake effect.

Talk about the language. Stumbling over those repetitive syllables in Indian names like
Wawatosa. After a year you can rattle them off pretty good.
