    Dick Cheney

Dick got a new heart, his old one was bad, everybody knows that, but at 71 years old why would they do such an operation and not give that heart to someone a lot younger.

Should there be an age limit on how old you can be before you are no longer in the running?

My Mother got a replacement valve in her late 70's early 80's. She's 89 right now.
Tough surgery and she wasn't the oldest person in the surgery at the time.
    So no age limit.

As few hearts they have for transplant I would choose the younger of the matches. Dick may have been the only match? I would like to think that his wealth and power did not trump someone else out of the heart. If I needed a heart and a younger person needed the heart I would let them have it as long as they met criteria. As a matter of fact I do not think I would meet criteria.

Now if only they could transport a soul. I hate Dick and wish anyone else would have received the heart. Rumor has it that Osama bin Laden's heart was the one used.

    Cool Re: Dick Cheney

I do not know if there is the age exclusion anymore. Except for the donor organ.

Cheney was one of the longest survivors on the left ventricular assist device. Unlike Steve Job's liver, I believe Cheney waited his turn in line. There are multiple factors such as failing health. Cheney was in decline and that probably boosted his placement on the list, too. I do believe among the multiple factors that apply to a placement on the list is of course tissue type compatibility as well as age.

Dick Cheney had survived for years without a heart. It will be interesting to see if having one makes any difference in how he acts.

How absurd! We all know what Dick is about and he is 71 years of age. He was also a public figure. Trayvon was a young man shot down in his prime due to hate. The two scenarios are not even close. Did Trayvon ever approve water boarding? Did he send men to war who were not properly equipped and did he profit from unfulfilled contracts with the US.

That wasn't compassion. That was sarcasm.

Dick Cheney is the man who justified torture -- like ripping out fingernails and waterboarding and crushing genitals and saying that the President had the rights to rendition and prolonged isolation and that. This is the man who growls and calls other men weak and wimpy and fags and fairys for not wanting endless war and death. This is the man who wants to bomb IRan with nuclear fucking weapons. This is the man who when called the "Prince of Evil" or "master of Death" puffed out his chest in pride. All that was dare we say -- heartless? This is the man who took the ectra large crap on Halloween and left itt in a burning bag on your doorstep. None of that pussyified dog shit for him. This is the man who as a child plucked chickens and wrang their necks to eat. This is the man who with one handed tied behind his back whipped the loch ness monster into a mere goldfish frenzy...

get the point? Have a heart and laugh.

Now that was all sarcasm too.

And I came back to add, I still wish him a speedy recovery and years on the new heart. So does Nessie from the bowl in my living room.

I knew this was going to be a fun thread, I did not know I would get so many laughs from it.

I would like all of you to note I did not take any side as to if Dick had a heart? the real question is did he ever have one before?

OH and thank you Mac, for a never ending source of entertainment.

When he passes away, who is going to schedule the "Dance on the Grave"?

    Alas, civility. I remember when.

Yes, I get it. His values and actions may have been objectionable to many.
We all at times act in ways that are objectionable to somebody.
I never said that he deserved grace and compassion.

My point: how can we ask for grace and compassion for ourselves if we are unwilling to have the same for others?

Mac, I am sure we all have more compassion for him then he has for anybody, maybe his new heart will make a difference because his old one was dead long before they removed it.

    Re: Dick Cheney

The only reason I can see for compassion for Dick is that, as far as I know, he will not be able to use
his new heart to further his evil plots and plans.
I am reminded of Demjamjuk the death camp guard. Once he got to the point he couldn't harm people anymore
theres no point in wishing him any further ill.
Likewise Cheney now seems unlikely to be able to promote further torture and killing of those who resist his will.
So I hope the new heart will give him time to sit around and ruminate on his past sins against humanity.
