What was reported yesterday is that we were finally going to get snow, Did not happen, what has happened is Ice Fishing is not happening, everything keeps falling through the ice.

Cool Re: There's Always The Weather

Dense Fog Advisory, Day 2. The fog horn bellows at night.
The air lost that static, nasty dryness due to return, mildly, on New Year's Day.

The Weather has been kind to the Rose Parade. No howling dry Santa Ana Winds and no rain.
My preference is the parade gets cancelled because of rain.

A few more days and the holidays will be over until the next cycle.
But, will there be one? <wooooo>

Cool Re: There's Always The Weather

The heavy fog of last night, the second fog night, gave way to
78F, pleasant air, the sun could be less bright.
"They" say it will be warmer tomorrow.
My hunch is no rain until Feb/March If at all.

We were due a big, I say BIG snow storm, what we got was a trace. A trace means that it covers the ground in most spots but not something you can measure.

    SO WHERE IS THE SNOW?

They say 1-2 inches of lake effect snow and 31 F tonight.
And 40 mph winds (it's the winds that get the trees)

The mountains east and south might actually have skiing - Seven Springs, Deep Creek, Mountaineer Park, Uniontown, Johnstown, and up to Erie PA. think that direction for more snow.

Check the weather of the Pacific N.W. IE and his neighbors are hogging all the water.
    I referenced Seattle though.
My rain, your snow, and IE just let's it drain into the ocean.

    Hi IE
    Will Dave's forecast moisture happen?
Would someone please move that high pressure area stalled over the Colorado plateau?

    Wishing for rain.

    Looking out of the window...
    -Snoooow? Snooow? Where are you?

So, it is +1C, no snow (very little snow remains in some places).
And we have green grass (also in some places). Is THIS winter?

I understand so well, today in our area of the world, we are 40f above normal. No snow on the ground, some left over ice in places, this is not normal for our coldest month of the year. Tomorrow I break out my shorts and flip flops, ITS SPRING.

    River.
I just read we are in for a La Nina condition through Spring.
I know that means less moisture for the West and South.
Seems to me you are going to be dry too. No wet.
La Nina as we know is due to Humankind's effect on global warming.

Personally, I was not happy to read this report but, consoled myself that I am a
El Nino / La Nina climate model atheist. And I pray to the Deities of Rain.

It do feel dry here in Southern California after an early fake out by well spaced Autumn rains.
The break from 80F days at the coast w/o hot winds is promised in a day or two since last Saturday.

yep we got something yesterday not sure what it was but it has left the ground kind of white in spots, today it is hovering around zero, finally its cold I guess I can put the shorts away. Now if it would just snow, last year at this time we had already gotten 48 inches.

It's 15F here now. Winter arrived this morning. Maybe 1" of snow. Lot of wind, cold, and some icy spots.
    Schools on 2 hour delay.
I was only able to get my office up to 80F. I am only able to get my room/office at home up to 90F.
Yes, I am wearing thermal underwear, both places, and cross-dressing with girls faux-fur boots! Well, really, you can't tell with jeans down over the tops of them...they're warm, that's all I care about!
It's a long time to July...oh how I miss the 115F heat index weather!

Cool Re: There's Always The Weather

It rains. Not just a drizzle and no gully washer but, it does rain.
I doubt it will be over a tenth of an inch if that much.
This switch to La Nina is for the birds.
I agree with River we must do something about humankind's effect on the central and western Pacific equetorial warm zone. This is the cause for both our shortages of precipitation and unusually warm winters.
    Equatorial aquatic heat absorbers. Hhhmmm?
    ? ? Anyone?
Can't just put solar reflectors on the waters surface or soot in the atmosphere above because the source heat is probably the result of underwater volcanic activity. We must have aquatic heat absorbers if River is to have a long white winter and Moi is to be secure in his lawn watering.
Or is it the other way, we need water heaters effecting the equatorial Pacific.
What matters is humankind does something to avoid disaster to our precious biosphere.

    Moi
Stop Continental Drift. The cause of it all.
It is humankind's fault too. Never forget. It must be.

    Re: There's Always The Weather

    OK you made me laugh,

but if it does not get cold and snow this coming summer is going to be hell, insects up the ............

we need about 2 good months of below zero weather to kill the insects or else.

It is finally starting to cool off, its been in the low single numbers for the last few days.

But tell me does anybody care if it rains in California? now really does anybody care?
