(It's no wonder all of my life I could never pass for my own age.) Underneath all of my overweightness that I've had in the last few years I do still have the coveted heart face which is not masculine at all. And I know from experience that most traditional Indians (American) and Hispanics (Colorado, New Mexico) have had no trouble identifying me as such. There IS INDEED such a thing as a THIRD GENDER!!! So where does the term "gay" fit in with "third" or "neutero-" gender? And in the end does it important? Or should it even really matter in the first place at all? People are people and everyone seems to need a partner they can trust. There does seem to be a certain magic that dances between the feminine and the masculine but in the end that's not even what is important.
There is indeed a third gender, although I would not use "third gender" as the name for it. Informally it is a term of convenience to really mean, the rest of the gender spectrum that does not fit within the majority duality of men and women. Some people feel like both, some feel like neither, to make distinctions I think there would have to be a fourth, fifth, sixth gender, so on and so forth.

Generally, my guess is that for the gender category of "others", it would not be easy to apply the "bi, gay, straight" categorisation to it. A large deciding factor would probably be how the subject in question views the person he/she is attracted to, and I am guessing that sometimes, "bi" can be a convenient word to mean you don't really care if one is attracted to a person whose gender is men, women or others.

Maybe for the sake of simplicity in this survey, as Dave's requested, we could consider pansexuality to be within the realms of bisexuality, even though there is a distinction between the two.

In the end, the only way it matters is if people get hurt due to the ignorance of others or not, otherwise, why should it matter what one likes or if one has a lack of distinction in what they are or prefer?

Since we discount anything else purely physical as having any influence on sexual preference, the end result is that having a preference for cocks on women still makes you mostly straight. That means you're bisexual to the ratio of 10% gay, 90% straight

Also makes it easier for dave's survey to be answered.
I'm attracted only to female secondary sex characteristics - free of body hair, curves, breasts. I simply don't feel the need to discriminate on the basis of genitals - both have certain advantages and disadvantages. So by this metric then, I'm 100% straight. Had I myself attempted to transition, I'd likely be 100% bi, but since that's not the case, it's not affected my score.

In either case, I think I tallied in the proper category.

I guess this survey concept is a bit difficult to understand.

I was trying to get some numbers of Men that want, wanted or did cut their Cock Off and continue to remain masculine. The reason I was interested in these numbers was to make a point to any medical professional that would be reading this to know the concept of a Penectomy is not always so he can transform into a female but, cut his cock off and remain Masculine.

The idea of a genetically born male that that is attracted to women sexual would be considered Straight, the transformation of that same male into a woman is another subject and not what I was curious to count since shrinks think all men wanting to cut their cocks off only want to be women.

Also cutting off the male genitalia is so Taboo most men squirm, grab their crotch and freak out at the idea of losing Mr Winkiee and the family jewels.

Men that want to lose their cock and remain masculine.....

What about men that have thier cocks and balls got off and turned into a clitoris and labia and still remain masculine. Think about that too

This recovering psychologist wonders why the representation of gay membership is so disproportionately high compared to the general population. Similarly, the other numbers do not reflect social norms. Raises the spectre of many interesting questions.
I was wondering the same thing and this is not the first time I have wondered this. This poll just seems to confirm what I already thought. Why are gay men disproportionately represented? I am not so sure this is any kind of proof, but it is interesting. Of course I have noticed that gays seem to be over represented in the BDSM community as well. Perhaps it's this boards connection to that community that makes both appear to be over represented?

What I don't understand is your offense that people seem to have misunderstood or chosen not to understand your question. While this may be annoying, it is not a personal attack and should not be taken as such. Your question has been questioned. You haven't. Relax, man...

    Sorry if I confused things.

I consider myself straight, and will continue to remain masculine (at this point, changing that is not a choice).

So yes, despite the masculine appearance, male sex drive, and "straight" gender preference, I wish to have my penis removed, and still wish to be sexually active as a male lover to my wife after that.

It's sexual function. Obviously, gay tops are not wanting their penis removed, but gay bottoms might, and bi guys might have other ways of enjoying their sexuality. Straight guys tend to want to keep their penis for traditional intercourse.

On the BDSM element... maybe gays are overrepresented because they don't have to worry as much about having a partner who's not into it. Many straight men probably do desire that, but probably don't successfully broach the subject with their partners. Women tend to not be as accepting of or have such extreme sexual fantasies like these that men think up. I realize there are counterexamples, but I think T has a lot to do with this.

I'm with Dave on this one, I definitely want a penectomy and will get one, but I have no desire to become a female....even when I or someone else decides afterwards that my balls will go to. I don't mind the thought of becoming sexless at all.

I guess people are like lumber. (Framing carpenters may understand this concept better. My muscles spasmed trying.) Anyway you go to build a shed and some of the pieces (2x4s, 2x6s, etc.) are straight and so you use them for certain purposes whereas others aren't so straight and so you use those for other purposes usually as blocking and so forth. A good carpenter has no waste to speak of. The fact is that in reality none of the pieces are ever actually straight to begin with, only that some of the pieces happen to be straighter than others and can be used for the door and windows. BUT ALL ARE USEFUL IN THE END.

Let me phrase it in a much simpler way for you.

Men who want to be cockless but still be acknowledged as men. Doesn't matter if they're straight, bi or gay, doesn't matter if they are effeminate or masculine behaving, as long as they still identify as men, and wish to be acknowledged as men.

Well.... he comes here, not quite knowing what the terms mean, mixed and matched according to his own whim, and now runs off when he realises that 1) he's got all his terms mixed up and 2) the world isn't quite as narrowly defined?
