Califo-nia is the center of the universe
A world without California is unimaginable and would probably be quite boring.
Our plate is not submerging but sliding northward and upward.
Unless one chooses to live in a ski resort, we can only look eastward and wonder -

Probably not in those ten homes in Laguna Beach, and a few scattered around the L.A. basin against the hills.
Y'See, we are dealing with very small numbers of persons effected. Made big because,
    We are Califo-nia after all.
As many homes and business in any other State would hardly be News worthy. That's just the way it is.
I didn't tell the NBC News to play up those few businesses in Laguna Beach. I am sure more hardship was suffered in the frozen country, blizzarded as it was.
We have two Michigans, and Carolinas, Dakotas, Virginias, and a bunch of States as could be lumped together and no one would miss them.
But, Califo-nia is the "center" and I did not make it that way. I just happen to live here.

Hope that clears up the situation and the few Califo-nians who are so news worthy.

Moi, I really hate to break this to you, but on NBC news the coverage of rain and mud slides in California was a 1 minute story and Laguna Beach was never mentioned, some other hill area was and sense I have never herd of it, it must be new within the last 25 years. Also the reports only said southern California, the only big city was San Diego which is about 4 hours from LA or if you drive 12. Last nights news they did not say anything about the weather in California but rather the problems in London, the storms hitting the east coast and our local weather.

Moi, the news you see is local, the news we see puts LA and area as a foot note. We get a lot more coverage of the twin cities then the west coast. Mac sees the news in his area and most likely knows whats going on in Detroit but has no clue whats happening in the twin cities. When you get to national news California is not a big story, London is a big story, storms on the east coast are a big story.

    Right Mac?

Yup. It's a blizzard here in Morris County, New Jersey, the Center of Western Civilization. Our first in years. I wasn't able to go out today. Unusual cold turning rain into snow. This might be a hard winter.

May all that is GOOD and HOLY forgive me,
    I so enjoy this
    http://news.yahoo.com/nphotos/East-C...120210eastsnow

Less then ten homes in Laguna Beach gets more attention then hundreds of thousands stuck at home.
And maybe without TV or Internet,
    <the horror>

Here in, Eden, Southern Coastal California, the Loquat and Avacado are flowering, lemons are ripening, Fuji apple does not know what to do, cherry, fig, apricot and pomegranates finally sleeping. I give away lettuce from my garden.
The Leechee tree I threatened with substitution for a white peach has iddy-bibby fruits after two years of shock.

    Bob3's building is without heat.

Any takers for Joisey, the center of some or another civilization.
It is in the high forties outside but, it makes me feel so cold thinking about no heat.
I'm gonna turn my heat on.

Re: Hey, Blizzard Members. Can You Get Online?

Mac, your right, for us to get 24 inches of snow at a time is a bit inconvenient, for the east coast they shut the place down for a couple days, can you imagine what would happen if this would have hit So. Cal?

    I can see it now,

They get a little rain and the world stops but what if it snowed?

Call out the Army, National Guard, OMG, look at the damage to all the golf courses, and swimming pools frozen over, the surfing been canceled, "Oh the humanities of it all".

And if you are using an electric blanket to stay warm in a cold apartment, don't let it burn you. A friend of mine just went through skin grafts for a heating blanket burn.

    Sorry River

All that news and barely a mention of Califo-nia.
The Blizzard Folk are scooping all the stories.

But they did get Laguna Canyon Rd (133) open although the road to Running Springs / Big Bear is washed out. Two lanes washed down the mountain.
Anyone who misses news regarding Southern Califo-nia is welcome to PM Moi.
