Not a movie, but the TV series "Hill Street Blues". If you were a fan you know that any story line took at least 3 weeks from start to finish. In one episode a man rapes a woman and is aristed but they dont read him his moranda in spanish, he goes free. Tell you what. If she (your friend) can remember the name of an actor or an actress in the movie, get it and one or the other of us can look it up in a movie listings book under the credits to the actress or actor.

This is probably a long shot. The only mainstream actor that does such movies is Malcolm McDowell.

I thought I'd start a thread about castration in movies. Feel free to contribute any movie you know of.

1)The Ladies Club : I have never seen this one, but apparently it dates back to the mid 80's. And it is also suppose to be based on a book. From what I know, it's about a group of women who track down the men who raped them and castrate them. As far as I know, we don't see any severed organs.

2)Sudden Impact : A Dirty Harry movie. Some chick who was raped tracks down her rapists and puts a bullet between their legs as well as between their eyes. Kinda similiar to the previous movie, I guess. This one is from 1983.

3)True Romance : Christian Slater sticks a gun into the opening of Gary Oldman's underwear and blows away his nuts.

4)To Live And Die In L.A. : This movie is actually pretty good. It was directed by the guy that directed "The Excorsist". Anyway, Willem Dafoe blows off some guy's nuts.

5)War Of The Roses : A black comedy. Kathleen Turner bites Michael Douglas' dick and/or nuts while giving him head.

6)The Serpent And The Rainbow : This is based on a book of the same name and allegedly (the book, anyway) is a true story. It's a voodoo/horror movie that takes place in Haiti, if I recall. The hero is caputured by the villian and is strapped to a chair with his underwear down at his ankles. The bad guy drives a big railroad spike down on the hero's nuts. We don't get to see any nudity, but we get to see the hero writhing in pain and bloodied underwear. Later in the movie, the hero (Bill Pullman) said that the villian only punctured his scrotum.

7)In The Realm Of The Senses : I've never seen this one, but I want to. From a review I read, a woman slices of her lover's dick and wanders around town waving it in people's faces. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

A western version of this same film would attempt for some level of realism, some element of grittiness and angst. This film ignores realism entirely. Hey, its a fantasy already! Swordsman and monks float and dive in aerial battle, an old man's eyebrows are deadly weapons, whole armies of guys in brightly colored uniforms run about attacking each other for very poorly explained reasons, and blue eyed jawa clones swoop about the inside of evil temples. Although the ending is almost unintelligible, the first hour of the film is just one cool scene after another. The editing of this film would certainly make an epileptic have a seizure, but after five minutes you stop caring about the plot and dialogue and just start enjoying the wacky surreal action. I wish I could see this one on the big screen.

12) Jodowrosky films : "Holy Mountain"

Holy Mountain has a scene where all these guys sacrifice their virility to Mars (a humanoid character sort of representing the god). Apparently he needs some number (1000, I think) and it shows the last one. They lead this guy through these hallways of jars containing previous sacrifices, take him up to an altar and he does the deed. Overall it's a very short scene and nothing terribly graphic. The movie is otherwise about as bizarre as movies get - David Lynch cited Jodorowsky as one of his biggest influences, and, man...Dark Highway et al. have nothing on El Topo or Holy Mountain when it comes to sheer what-the-fuck'ness. Everyone should see it at least once.

13) Cannibal Ferrox/Cannibal Apocalypse :

This movie is often cited as a primary inspiration for the Blair Witch Project. It's about an asshole documentarian and his fuckwit friends who go to South America to make a documentary. They never return, and somebody from his film studio goes to find out what happened to him. The person finds the footage from Asshole's team and they watch it, only to discover that Asshole and his buddies met fates they deserved. Without, er, "ruining" it, one (kinda hot) guy gets his dick cut off in the background, but that's about it for castration-related content.
This movie isn't easy to watch if you have a hard time with serious nastiness. If you're not into gore, it's definitely not worth seeking out for the incredibly brief and grainy penectomy. FWIW, a scene with a tortoise getting ripped to shreds was the only one that made me look away - the human violence was generally fake enough that it didn't bother me, but that was real.
