It's too windy here to go hunting or fishing, so a friend sent me this game.
I wish wild turkey hunting WAS this easy. As it is, hunting those SMART and alert birds is challenging. They are not the dumb critters you see on the farm.
I don't hunt for them specifically, but usually carry my 12 gauge into the deer blind along with my deer rifle, and pop one or two over the course of the season...legally! Darned tasty but not like domestics so far as breast size and flavor. Great when slow smoked and make excellent chili too.

I just tried it, it was fun game, and I absolutely agree with you, I WISH it were that easy to bag a wild turkey. Then again, IF they were that easy to bag, they would most certainly be extinct, so I guess that I am actually happy that they are such a wiley and ellusive bird.

I scored just a few points over 10,000.
I'm no better with real guns. I'm limited to shooting rabbits from my garden-room window, with a single-loading low-power air rifle! I do get the occasional lunch though!

Y'know, sometimes I think that one of the reasons I'm so successful at hunting and fishing is that there are plenty of game birds, game animals, and fish (specifically bass) that see a female climbing into a deer or duck blind, walking across a field with a dog ahead seeking a covey of quail, driving a bassboat (sometimes at 75MPH+), making a cast in their direction, etc., and think "Well, she's just a girl, no problem. Party on, gang!"

Deer #1: "Hey, where's Fred? One of the does was looking for him. She's in heat and ready to romp."
Deer #2: "You haven't heard??? Well, Fred is no more. Gone...defunct...ex post facto...as in DEAD!...Sniffle."
Deer #1: "What? Why, I haven't seen those hunter guys around here today. WTF happened? Heart attack from too much mating? Pack of coyotes?"
Deer #2: "You'd better sit down before I tell you."
Deer #1: "We CAN'T sit, you idiot! What happened?"
Deer #2: "It was that human doe...errrr...female...'Girl', I think they call them."
Deer #1 "So she ran over him with that thing they travel in, the one with the big round things that roll on the ground?"
Deer #2: "Uh, no...she killed him with that long thing that makes noise and fire, in .270 Winchester caliber, I believe."
Deer #1: "Neaux sheee-it? SHE did that? Well, I'll be damned!"
Deer #2: "I saw it happen. Fred and I were standing along the brushline over by the peanut field, munchin' a few goobers 'n eyeballin' some does, when 'Ka-Pow". Fred looked at me with sorta glassy eyes then down he went, a tiny little hole in one side of his neck and a bigger one on the other side. He twitched once and that was that. He always used to rag me about having bigger horns than mine. Well, THAT was a plus...for ME!"
Deer #1: "Jeebus! Are you sure it was that human doe?"
Deer #2: "Yep. I hid in some mesquite and watched as she climbed out of a little box and walked all the way over to where Fred was, It must have been two hunnert 'n fifty of what they call 'yards' and why would she bother if she didn't do the deed?"
Deer #1: "Then wot?"
Deer #2: "Well, she took off some of her hide and hung it on a tree. Then she took out this shiny thing from her belt. She touched Fred's blood with one finger, touched that to the little hole in front of her bangstick, then she made a little mark on her own forehead with it. It gets worse; She rolled Fred on his back, spread his hind legs, then got down on her main leg joints. Then she...she...she...took hold of Fred's mating parts and...and...I CAN'T SAY IIIIIIIIIIIT!"
Deer #1; "OMG! Not...THAT!?!?!?!?!"
Deer #2 " Yes! THAT and THOSE too. Oh, the deermanity!"
Deer #1: "And then?"
Deer #2: "She then split his belly and chest and took out his insides!"
Deer #1: "She's a savage killer and must be stopped!"
Deer #2: "Well, before you plan revenge you need to sneak over to that place where the humans live when they come here. There's a thing they call a 'Spa' on one side of the dwelling and sometimes she takes off all but the last layer of her hide and sits in it."
Deer #1: "So?"
Deer #2; "Anyone that would kill THAT is crazy!"

Well, I just don’t understand what all the fuss is about bagging a Wild Turkey. Just yesterday I went down to the state liquor store and got a pint of Wild Turkey, and the nice young man put it in a small brown paper bag, then inside a large brown bag, and that inside a plastic bag. I’ll tell you that Wild Turkey was securely bagged. And they had fifths, and fancy Holliday Bottles, all easy as you please.

What, you say there’s another kind of Wild Turkey – some kind of – bird?

Actually, it was the "Miss Emily Litella" character played by the late Gilda Radner who immortalized the word "nevermind." Rosanne Rosannadanna was another charater also played by Gilda Radner, who was probably most famous for the words... "I thought I was gonna die!"

The world is a lesser place without Gilda Radner, truly a brilliant entertainer.
