Kickoff2 -- Barack Obama wins IOWA

It took a little longer to get the results but as of about 9:40pm.
    The political season has started!

    OBAMA - 37%
    EDWARDS - 30%
    CLINTON - 30%
    Richardson - 2%

I worked for Bill Richardson and met him. He's a nice guy, quite competent.

I definitely agree on Bill Richardson. While my state is late in the primaries, I certainly supported him financially and with posts on political sites. I think that he would make an outstanding vice president or, maybe better, secretary of state.

Obama has the domestic experience and ideas. He needs someone with international experience as a running mate.

    He needs a swift kick.
    In fact, they all do.

Fun fact: Humans are deuterostomes, which means that when they develop in the womb, the anus forms before any other opening. Which basically means at one point you were nothing but an asshole. Some people never develop beyond this stage!

Considering that Reagan appointed a Dentist to run the Department of Energy, it wasn't Richardson who needed a kick in the ass.

So who's talking about Richardson needing a swift one?

Try most of the other "leaders."

I'm a Democrat tried and true, and the only one of the whole friggin lot, aside from 'None of the Above' that I would consider voting for right now is McCain, and I dont like him either. (I'm not considering Richardson in that equation, since he doesnt have a chance.)

I would vote for Obama. I think he could use a little more international experience but I think he is savvy enough to pick good advisors and listen to them.

Please don't laugh too hard but if we could mix and match our candidates I might put Obama and Mccain on the same ticket. I think they are both smart and would balance each other out.

I believe that Obama is dangerous. He encouraged out of state students to participate in the caucuses. That means that there are many who will essentially be voting twice, once at the caucuses, and once in their home state. Living in California, and listening to all those moaning over the Florida vote counts, it angers me that no one moaned about the secretary of state of California certifying elections without ever counting absentee ballots. Therefore, in the two elections with Bush, he illegally lost California. Absentee ballots are overwhelmingly Republican/Military/Senior Citizen. Bush's losses in California were not by a wide margin. Therefore, counting absentee ballots may have changed the results. What is worse, all of those ballots were immediately destroyed so that they would never be counted. Ever. No one said a word. No one said a word when Loretta Sanchez won her election in the very Republican Orange County with illegal alien votes. Now, we have Barrack Obama enlisting university students to double vote. This is way beyond hanging chads. This is clearly illegal. I am not a fan of Hilary Clinton, but as far as I am concerned, she and John Edwards are the winners of the Iowa Democratic caucus. At least they are not encouraging illegal behavior, or having their constituents voting early and often. And I am going to agree with The Red Nun on this one: John McCain is the best Democrat in the field right now.

I'm curious where you come by all this information. It sounds like it's right off the ticker at FOX news. In any case Bush is currently the POTUS so why complain that he may have been cheated out of California's electoral vote?

Are you of the opinion that the GOP is made up of Saints and Angels? It seems to me that politics is a dirty business and possibly the best example of social Darwinism. The most crooked rise to the heights of power and remain their until they go just a little TOO far or embarrass their party.

Given the choices currently available, i'm hoping NYC Mayor Mike Bloomberg gets in the race...given his lack of experience, an Obama nation would be an abomination.

I disagree, what we dont need is another billionaire running the country, Obama looks better everyday.

I am at a loss to understand why anyone cares about the caucus results in Iowa. While a nice enough place, Iowa in no way represents the rest of the country. Iowa has an almost all white, mostly rural population of very small numbers. The metropolitan area I live in has nearly as many people as all of Iowa and it is not one of the largest in the country. So.......why does Iowa matter? --FLO--

Uh, Bush WON the last two elections.
How could the Democrat Secretary of State harm that? Clearly illogical and simply a RED HERRING.

Bush&CO Justice Department has had eight years to uncover the supposed voting fraud. That's why Monica Goodling hired all those right-wing hack lawyers and stained the Justice Department with politics.
And it isn't there... IT'S ALL IN THEIR MINDS. They dream of it as the reason for their loses when they can't see their own faults.

Bloomberg is a phony. He's nothing but a billionaire who's too stupid to run a real campaign, he wants "drafted"...

Notice the Republicans run away from their own candidates.
This is the Democrat link and they can't even say anything but vituperation, old lies and silly rumors. Not to mention wet dreams of "other" republicans who can't win a real election.

They don't even mention the seven dwarves - Huckabee, Romney, Guiliani, Paul, McCain, Thompson, and what's his name?

The way i understand it a caucuses is different then voting there fore it is not double voting.

I had a flash of insight a few months ago and believe that Obama will win the presidency.

Bloomberg has done a fine job as mayor of NYC...that is the reason i'd want him to run, or be drafted as a third party candidate...one who could actually win...Obama will never win the states he needs to...namely, the one's Baby Bush won in both elections...but i just feel he isn't experienced enough to make the change happen he claims to wish for...this government is 230 years old, and he's not going to get rid of the old boy network...neither party wants that to happen...i would like to see a Democrat win, but i don't think Obama can win, and even if he did win, i don't think he's been around long enough to do the job.
